Inspired
Ok. I'm new to this blog thing. So please, bear with me.
I think I was just compelled to create my own blog after finishing the Jasmine Star 5 "sleepless nights" wedding course. It was a 5 day wedding photography course given by the amazing wedding photographer Jasmine Star in Seattle, USA which was shown live via creativeLIVE. Why sleepless nights? Well, since it was shown live in Seattle, I have to watch it in my own timezone, which unfortunately is night time for me. Starting from 10pm up until 4am in the morning! 5 days in a row. Well, except for the wedding day itself which started at around 2am until 9am. Yes, you heard it right, wedding day! Jasmine Star together with her husband, JD, creativeLIVE 5(5 photographers chosen to join the course) and the creativeLIVE crew showed the world what goes on as they cover a wedding. It was so RAW. So REAL! Like watching a reality tv.
First, I need to create my own blog. At this digital age, a blog can help you present yourself out there without spending a penny. But you have to "keep it real". Let the world know who you really are and not how you want the world to see you. This will either let you connect or repel future clients. Repelling future clients is not bad. Why? Who would wanna work with a "bridezilla"?
Second, be a second shooter. There's a lot to learn in shooting a wedding. So the best way to learn it is to be a second shooter. Even if you're just an assistant to the main photographer, you get to see what and how he/she shoots. How he interacts with the couple, the guests, etc. So, to WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS OUT THERE IN DUBAI, if you ever need a second shooter, I'M READY TO SHOOT!
Third, always smile. I always make sure to project myself as happy and cool, even under the most pressured times in my work. I even do it while talking to clients over the phone. Yes, they won't see you smiling but you'll sound more friendly and pleasant doing so.
Fourth, well, as I've said there's a lot. All of which can be seen here(Jasmine Star's quotes).
Oh yeah, if you want to purchase the course, or other courses from creativeLIVE you can do so here. If you have the money and you want to be a wedding photographer, I suggest you get it.
Hats off to Jasmine Star for keeping it real. And kudos to creativeLIVE team for sharing this awesome course to the whole world.
So there. I hope you didn't find this post boring. As I've said, I'm new to this blogging thing. I'll "probably" get better as time goes by. My goal is to at least post one blog per week.
And since this is a photoblog, here's a photo of me watching silently with my headphones on, taking down notes while my wife and baby sleep...
